President Tinubu to Forego Birthday Celebrations Amidst National Challenges

As President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 72nd birthday approaches on March 29, 2024, he has made the decision to opt out of any birthday-related activities. According to his special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, this is necessitated in view of the challenging times faced by the nation,

Traditionally, birthdays are occasions for family, friends, and associates to celebrate and honor the individual. However, President Tinubu believes it would be inappropriate to hold festivities amidst recent tragic events, including the killing of officers and men of the Army and Police in Delta State, and the ongoing security breaches by criminal elements across Nigeria.

The President in a Press Statement signed by Mr.  Bayo Onanuga expressed his appreciation for being entrusted with the leadership of Nigeria during these trying times encouraging friends and associates to channel their goodwill towards charitable causes.

“Those who wish to express their well-wishes through advertorials in newspapers, radio, or television stations should instead donate the funds to charity organizations in his name.”

The statement also indicated that the President Tinubu intends to reflect on the nation’s challenges and re-dedicate himself to the task of building a more stable, secure, prosperous, and united Nigeria as his decision to abstain from celebrations underscores his unwavering commitment to addressing the pressing issues facing the country and prioritizing the welfare of its citizens.
