Lagos State Governor Inaugurates Palliative Advisory Committee to Address Economic Hardship

In response to the economic challenges faced by residents in the Country, Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated the Lagos State  “Palliative” Advisory Committee on Saturday. The move follows the governor’s announcement of three intervention measures during a special media chat held on Thursday.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who serves as the chairman of the committee, emphasized the importance of proper monitoring and implementation of the interventions to alleviate economic hardships. The Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, was appointed as the alternate chairman.

During the inauguration ceremony at the Lagos House, Marina, Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating an engaging and rewarding ecosystem for residents. The committee’s role is to provide advice and present ideas to support the effective implementation of interventions.

The committee comprises cabinet members, religious leaders, bipartisan groups representing various political parties, activists, and other stakeholders. Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the members were carefully selected for ease of communication and reportage. They held an introductory meeting to discuss the rules of engagement regarding the interventions.

Key members of the committee include Imam Abdulazeez Onike, Chief Missioner of NASFAT; Seyi Sowunmi, a member of the Labour Party (LP) in the House of Representatives; Mrs. Joe Okei-Odumakin; Kolade Alabi, Chairman of Conference 57, representing chairmen of Local Governments and Local Council Development Area (LCDA); Barrister Taofeeq Ganiu; Dr. Shina Fagbenro-Byron; Ademola Shabi, a member of the House of Representatives; and Comrade Biliaminu Oba, representing the youth.

The establishment of the Palliative Advisory Committee reflects the government’s proactive approach to addressing the economic challenges faced by residents in Lagos State. The committee’s diverse composition underscores the collaborative effort needed to develop effective solutions for the well-being of the community.
