Nathaniel Bassey, Pastor Jerry Eze Demand Urgent Action as Insecurity Worsens in Nigeria

Clerics condemn recent attacks, urge government and security agencies to confront terrorists and kidnappers

Prominent gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey and renowned preacher Pastor Jerry Eze have called for urgent and decisive action to curb the rising wave of insecurity in Nigeria. They urged the government and security agencies to intensify efforts against terrorism, banditry and widespread kidnappings.

In a statement posted on Wednesday via social media, Pastor Eze offered prayers against the perpetrators and their financiers, declaring:

“About time, God of judgement spares no enemy of Nigeria and their sponsors in Jesus’ name. Enough is enough of this banditry, terrorism, and wickedness.”

Nathaniel Bassey also voiced concern over what he described as a distressing national security situation. He stressed the need for greater accountability and a coordinated approach involving the government, armed forces, intelligence agencies and citizens.

He expressed optimism that peace would eventually return, adding:

“Peace shall reign in Nigeria. Nigeria shall prosper and fulfil her destiny in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Their comments follow a series of violent attacks across the country, including the invasion of a Christ Apostolic Church parish in Eruku, Kwara State, where suspected bandits killed at least two people, and the abduction of 25 students from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, during which a school staff member was killed.

The recent incidents have prompted widespread condemnation, with other entertainers, including actors and comedians, also joining the call for immediate government intervention to stem the worsening security crisis.
