Team Europe has reclaimed the Solheim Cup after defeating the United States 15–13 at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands on Sunday. The victory ended America’s hold on the trophy and gave Europe its ninth Solheim Cup title.

Europe and the United States were level at 8–8 after the opening two days, setting up a tense final day of singles matches. Europe then produced a strong performance, winning seven of the 12 singles matches to secure the trophy.

England’s Lottie Woad played a major role in the victory. The 22-year-old defeated Auston Kim 2&1, sinking a crucial two-foot putt on the 17th hole. Her victory moved Europe to the 14½ points required to guarantee that the Americans could no longer win the competition.

Spain’s Carlota Ciganda then completed the victory by defeating Jennifer Kupcho 4&2. Ciganda’s result provided the final score of 15–13 and sparked celebrations among the European team.

The result was particularly important for Europe because the Americans had won the previous Solheim Cup in 2024. Europe also entered this year’s competition looking to respond after losing that edition in Virginia.

The European team was led by captain Anna Nordqvist, who ended her Solheim Cup captaincy with a major victory. Players including Woad, Ciganda, Linn Grant and Charley Hull delivered important points during the decisive singles session.

For the United States, the defeat was disappointing despite strong performances from players including Alison Lee, Rose Zhang and Nelly Korda. Alison Lee produced one of the day’s biggest comebacks, recovering from four holes down to defeat Esther Henseleit 1 up.

The victory gives Europe another major moment in the history of the Solheim Cup and strengthens its record in the competition. The 2026 edition was the first Solheim Cup staged at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands.
