The 2026 Baycurrent Classic is set to bring some of the biggest names in golf to Japan as the PGA Tour returns to action at Yokohama Country Club.
The tournament will take place from October 8 to 11, with 72 players competing for an $8 million prize purse. The winner will receive $1.44 million.
Defending champion Xander Schauffele is among the leading names in the field. The American won last year’s tournament by one stroke over Max Greyserman and will be hoping to successfully defend his title.
Schauffele will face strong competition from several other major names, including Collin Morikawa, Hideki Matsuyama, Keegan Bradley, Wyndham Clark, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Adam Scott and Min Woo Lee.
The tournament was formerly known as the Zozo Championship and has developed into one of the major international stops on the PGA Tour calendar.
For Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, the event is another opportunity to perform in front of home fans. Matsuyama has previously won the tournament, taking the title in 2021.
The 2026 edition will be played over the par-71 Yokohama Country Club course, which measures 7,322 yards.
The tournament’s limited field means fans will have the opportunity to watch many of the world’s leading golfers competing against one another.
Schauffele will enter the tournament with particular attention on him because of his victory last year. His connection with Japan also makes the tournament special. His mother grew up in Japan, and Schauffele has spoken about his family’s strong links to the country.
The tournament is expected to attract large crowds, with organisers also preparing entertainment and fan activities around the event.
The Baycurrent Classic is also important for players looking to finish the season strongly and improve their position in the PGA Tour standings.
With several major winners and established stars in the field, the tournament promises four days of competitive golf in Japan.
The first round begins on Thursday, October 8, with the final round scheduled for Sunday.
