Darwin Nunez Nears Al Hilal Move as Liverpool Target £150m Alexander Isak

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is reportedly on the verge of joining Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal in a move that could reshape the Premier League champions’ transfer strategy this summer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi club will pay an initial €53 million for the 26-year-old Uruguayan, who joined Liverpool from Benfica three years ago in a deal worth €75 million (£65m/$87m).

Despite flashes of brilliance, Nunez has scored just 40 goals in 143 appearances, falling out of favour under both Jurgen Klopp and current manager Arne Slot.

With Nunez now surplus to requirements following the summer arrivals of Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, and full-backs Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, Liverpool are expected to reinvest the funds in a marquee signing.

Reports suggest the Reds are lining up a record-breaking bid for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, who could cost as much as £150 million, potentially making him Britain’s most expensive footballer.

The departure of Nunez would bring Liverpool’s transfer sales income to nearly €200 million, following high-profile exits including Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Tyler Morton.

Midfielder Harvey Elliott is also attracting interest from RB Leipzig, with Liverpool valuing the England international at €45 million.

If completed, Nunez will become the latest star to join Al Hilal, coached by Simone Inzaghi, and featuring elite players like Ruben Neves, Joao Cancelo, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Aleksandar Mitrovic. The club recently made headlines after eliminating Manchester City in the Club World Cup quarter-finals.
