Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has called on Nigerians to remain united and steadfast in the face of recent security challenges affecting parts of the country.

In a statement addressing the nation, the governor urged citizens to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the country’s security agencies as efforts continue to combat terrorism, banditry and other criminal activities.

Sanwo-Olu acknowledged that recent security incidents have generated concern among Nigerians. However, he stressed that the nation’s resilience and collective strength remain stronger than the threats posed by criminal elements.

According to him, security challenges should not be viewed through political, ethnic or religious lenses. He noted that the perpetrators of violence do not discriminate based on political affiliation, making national unity essential in confronting the threats.

The governor expressed sympathy for victims of recent attacks and called for prayers and support for affected communities. He also appealed for solidarity with teachers and students abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Sanwo-Olu said Nigeria has overcome numerous challenges throughout its history, including economic difficulties, political instability and social tensions. He expressed confidence that the country would once again emerge stronger from its current security challenges.

He emphasized that government efforts alone would not be enough to defeat criminal networks, urging citizens to remain vigilant and actively support security agencies through lawful cooperation and intelligence sharing.

The governor also reaffirmed his confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and in the capabilities of Nigeria’s armed forces, intelligence agencies and other security institutions.

According to him, ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s security architecture, improve intelligence gathering and dismantle criminal networks require patience, determination and collective support from citizens.

Sanwo-Olu praised security personnel across the country for their sacrifices and commitment to protecting lives and property. He urged Nigerians to continue praying for and encouraging members of the armed forces and security agencies.

Addressing young Nigerians, the governor encouraged them to remain hopeful and optimistic about the future of the country. He said the challenges confronting Nigeria today should not define the nation, but rather how citizens respond with courage, unity and hope.

He expressed confidence that Nigeria would ultimately overcome its security challenges and build a safer and more prosperous future for all citizens.
