Nigeria has secured renewed commitments for technical assistance and financing cooperation from the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the European Union to support its economic reform programme.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed this while reviewing Nigeria’s participation at the 2026 IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand.

According to the minister, the World Bank reaffirmed its support for power and infrastructure development, while the IMF pledged continued technical assistance in fiscal policy, transparency and national statistics.

The European Union also identified energy and local pharmaceutical manufacturing as priority areas for collaboration.

Nigeria equally presented 65 investment projects valued at approximately 78.5 billion dollars, covering sectors such as agriculture, transport, energy, healthcare and industry.

However, Oyedele clarified that the commitments should not be mistaken for immediate financial disbursements, stressing that the government would report progress as agreements are formalised and results emerge.

The government says the partnerships are expected to support investment, economic growth and job creation.
