Veteran Nollywood actress and evangelist Eucharia Anunobi has opened up about the emotional and financial struggles she experienced during her marriage to her ex-husband, Charles Ekwu.
The actress shared her story during an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, in a clip posted on Instagram, where she became visibly emotional while recounting the difficult period in her life.
During the interview, Anunobi addressed her former husband directly, insisting that her account was truthful.
“Charles Ekwu, if you see this video, just know I am not lying against you,” she said.
The Nollywood star revealed that although her parents had warned her against the marriage, she chose to stay with the hope that things would eventually improve.
“I still held onto the marriage believing that it’s alright, we will be fine. He’s the same person that said he would be there with me through thick and thin,” she said tearfully.
According to Anunobi, the marriage became increasingly difficult as she claimed she had to shoulder most of the responsibilities alone.
“He is the same person that my parents said, ‘Eucharia, this guy is not it for you.’ I was the one doing everything. Charles never brought one naira,” she stated.
The actress did not reveal further details about the duration of the struggles but emphasised that the experience left a lasting emotional impact on her life.
Anunobi, who is widely known for her roles in several Nollywood productions, has since focused on her career and faith-based ministry.
