President Bola Tinubu has celebrated Nigerian women at home and abroad in a message marking the global observance of International Women’s Day.

In his statement on Saturday, the President commended the strength, courage, and determination displayed by women across the country, noting that their efforts continue to play a vital role in holding the nation together.

According to Tinubu, Nigerian women contribute significantly in different sectors of society, including homes, farms, markets, offices, and positions of leadership.

“Across our homes, farms, markets, offices, and the halls of leadership, Nigerian women continue to demonstrate strength, courage, and determination that help hold our nation together,” the President said.

He described women as mothers who nurture families, entrepreneurs who build businesses, professionals who provide leadership, and citizens who actively shape the nation’s future with resilience and dignity.

Tinubu also acknowledged the historical role women have played in Nigeria’s progress, noting that many refused to accept limitations placed on them.

“Nigeria’s progress has always carried the imprint of women who refused to accept limits placed before them,” he said.

The President further highlighted the contributions of women who have fought for democracy and those who work tirelessly every day to support their families and communities.

He said the government and society have a responsibility to create opportunities that will allow women and girls to thrive.

“Our duty as a government and as a society is to continue creating the conditions where every Nigerian girl can learn, every woman can thrive economically, and every voice can contribute to our national development,” Tinubu stated.

He stressed that empowering women is essential for the country’s growth and prosperity.

“When Nigerian women rise, Nigeria rises,” the President added.

Tinubu concluded by honouring the sacrifices and contributions of women to the nation and wished them a happy celebration.

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8 to recognise women’s achievements and promote gender equality across the world.
