Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, held a strategic meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, where he presented the key priorities of his administration, focusing on security, infrastructure, and enhanced collaboration with the Federal Government.

The closed-door meeting, confirmed in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, came amid growing rumours about Yusuf’s potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Kano State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, said the governor could receive his APC electronic membership card on Tuesday after returning from Abuja.

During the session, Yusuf briefed the President on pressing challenges in Kano, particularly escalating insecurity in some local government areas. He highlighted the recent tragic killing of a housewife and her children, stressing the need for decisive federal support to strengthen security operations.

“The governor highlighted the role of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps in complementing security agencies and called for deeper collaboration with federal security institutions,” the statement said.

Governor Yusuf also discussed Kano’s development agenda, focusing on mega infrastructure projects, and expressed gratitude for federal intervention on the Wujuwuju Road, describing it as a critical step toward economic growth and job creation. He urged President Tinubu to support and fast-track federal projects in the state.

President Tinubu assured Governor Yusuf of the Federal Government’s readiness to work with Kano State to tackle insecurity and drive sustainable development.
