Rep Member Oluwole Oke Resigns from PDP After Six Terms in Office

The Osun lawmaker urges supporters to exit the party as he hints at a new political direction.

A member of the House of Representatives, Oluwole Oke, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marking the end of his long-standing association with the party.

Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, made his resignation public through a letter dated April 16, 2025, addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ward 7, Obokun Local Government Area.

The six-term lawmaker confirmed his decision in a brief telephone interview on Wednesday, saying simply, “I have resigned from the PDP.”

According to Oke, the decision came after extensive consultations with his political associates, friends, and family. While he did not reveal which political party he plans to join next, he urged his loyalists and supporters to exit the PDP and await further instructions.

The departure of such a long-serving lawmaker is seen as a significant political shift, particularly in Osun State, where Oke has maintained strong grassroots support.

His next political move remains unclear, but speculation is already building around whether he will defect to another major party or consider a new political platform ahead of the next election cycle.
