The Federal Capital Territory Administration has warned owners of event centres, hotels, and other public facilities in Abuja against allowing their premises to be used by illegal organisations or unrecognised political party leaderships.

The warning was issued on Friday in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka.

According to the statement, any property found to have hosted gatherings organised by illegal groups risks having its title documents revoked as part of efforts to strengthen security in the Federal Capital Territory.

The administration said the directive is aimed at supporting ongoing security operations and preventing activities that could disrupt peace in the nation’s capital.

“In view of the need to further ensure the security of lives and properties in the FCT… usage of Event Centres, Hotels and other public buildings will now be closely monitored,” the statement said.

It added that property owners must verify the legality of organisations seeking to use their facilities, particularly during the current political season.

The FCTA specifically instructed operators to deal only with political party leaderships recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission when granting access to their premises.

“For instance, in this political season, owners of Event Centres and Hotels… must ensure that they only deal with INEC-recognised leadership of political parties,” the statement added.

The administration warned that failure to comply with the directive could result in revocation of land titles allocated within the Federal Capital Territory.

It stressed that all land allocations in Abuja are strictly for lawful purposes and must not be used to host activities capable of undermining public order.

The move comes amid increasing political activity across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, with authorities tightening oversight of public gatherings in sensitive locations.
