The need for Christian leaders, Bishops, Pastors and Archbishops, to return to the central message of the Cross dominated conversations at the just-concluded Bi- Monthly Global Week of the Sons of Benson Idahosa Convergence (SOBIC), the global community comprising men and women in the Clergy whose lives have been directly or indirectly impacted by the life and teachings of the Archbishop Benson Idahosa of blessed memory.
Reverend Taiwo Dina in a virtual session at the AA Global Bi- Monthly program
Organized by the All Nations for Christ Bible Institute Alumni Association, the Alumni body of the Bible Institute founded by the Archbishop Benson Idahosa, the Bi- Monthly program brought together members of the Alumni within and outside Nigeria.
Speakers at the event reflected on the enduring vision of the Archbishop Benson Idahosa and the need to preserve the purity of the Gospel as the Church awaits the second coming of Jesus.
Special guest speaker at the event Reverend Taiwo Dina, General Overseer, Global Life Ministry Jos, Plateau State, known for his extensive Ministry in northern Nigeria, and a founding father within the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Founder of Global Life Christian Church International and Alumnus of the All Nations For Christ Bible Institute International delivered the keynote message at the Conference.
Warning Against Preaching Another Gospel
Reverend Taiwo Dina warned against tailoring the Gospel to suit personal ideologies, cultural trends or individual ambitions instead of proclaiming the unchanging message of Jesus Christ.
According to him, many ministries have gradually shifted away from the centrality of the Cross in pursuit of popularity, influence and human approval.
He stressed that such a shift weakens the spiritual foundation upon which the Church was established.
Fear of God Is the Foundation of Lasting Ministry
Speaking on the theme, “When No One Is Watching: The Fear of God and the Secret Place,” Rev. Dina described the fear of God as genuine reverence, complete submission to God’s will and unwavering obedience to His Word.
He said the fear of the Lord remains the beginning of wisdom and a fountain of life. According to him, every ministry that seeks longevity must be firmly rooted in this biblical principle.
Drawing from Isaiah 11:2-3, he explained that authentic ministry must be guided by the fullness of the Spirit of the Lord, including wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
Rev. Dina cautioned that ministries may display miracles, knowledge and outward success while lacking the genuine presence of God if they are not built on the fear of the Lord.
He warned that Churches operating without these foundations risk ultimate rejection by Christ despite visible accomplishments.
Ministers Urged to Discern False Teachings
Rev. Dina also spoke from 2 Corinthians 11:4, focusing on the danger of embracing “another gospel” that closely resembles the authentic Gospel but ultimately leads believers away from Christ.
He urged ministers to develop spiritual discernment capable of distinguishing biblical truth from false teachings.
He urged the Clergy to remain true to the Gospel faithfully preached by Archbishop Benson Idahosa and preserved through sound biblical doctrine.
Return to the Secret Place
He also urged the Church to return to the place of intimacy with God. Speaking from the Book of Psalm Chapter 91, he lamented that many ministers have left the Holy of Holies—the place of personal communion with God—and now operate from the outer court, relying more on human strategies than divine direction.
According to him, abandoning the secret place leads to preaching a different gospel and presenting a distorted image of Jesus Christ.
He encouraged the Clergy to cultivate personal intimacy with Christ rather than depending on worldly methods to attract followers.
He added that those who neglect fellowship with God become vulnerable to spiritual deception and eventual destruction.
Rev. Dr. Taiwo Dina also expressed concern over what he described as the gradual departure of many churches from the biblical foundations laid by the fathers of the faith.
Lamenting the current state of the Church and the nation, he said many of today’s challenges could have been avoided if the uncompromising message of the Gospel had remained the Church’s central focus.
“If Archbishop Benson Idahosa were with us today, a lot of the things happening both in the Church and in Nigeria would not be happening,”* Rev. Dina declared.
He said Archbishop Idahosa stood firmly for biblical truth, holiness and the uncompromising preaching of the Cross, urging today’s ministers to preserve that legacy by resisting doctrinal compromise and remaining faithful to the authentic Gospel of Jesus Christ.
According to him, the Church must once again become the moral and spiritual compass of society by boldly proclaiming the truth of God’s Word without fear or favour.
Other Ministers Reinforce the Message
Meanwhile, other ministers who ministered during the conference included Reverend Mrs. Ronke Oke-Edionwe, General Overseer of Hope Alive Ministries, Benin City, Edo State; Bishop Dr. Curtis Fianu of the Lagos Bishopric of Church of God Mission International (CGMI); Bishop Fidelis Ugbong, Presiding Bishop of Elohim International Christian Centre, Abuja; Presiding Apostle Ephratah Apostolate Inc. , and International Vice President United States Chaplain Organization, Apostle Dr. Jeffery Omo Osagie and Reverend Andrew Daniels, British Missionary to Nigeria since the 70s.
Their messages reinforced the conference’s central themes of biblical truth, the fear of God, sound doctrine and faithfulness to the apostolic legacy of Archbishop Benson Idahosa.
Conference Ends with Call for Spiritual Renewal
The conference came to a close with a call for a renewed commitment to uphold the message of the Cross, preserve the Apostolic vision of Archbishop Benson Idahosa (of blessed memory) and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ with integrity, boldness and the fear of God.
