The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has engaged members of the International Airlines Association of Nigeria as part of efforts to strengthen protocol services and improve passenger experience across the country’s airports.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, the engagement took place during an interactive session held at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The meeting was led by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, who met with airline representatives to discuss areas of collaboration and service improvement.
The session provided both parties with the opportunity to address key operational issues affecting airport services and passenger facilitation.
Agbebire said the engagement was aimed at strengthening the working relationship between FAAN’s Department of Protocol and Passages and airline operators.
He added that the dialogue also allowed the authority to better understand challenges faced by airlines in daily operations.
During the meeting, airline representatives raised concerns about several operational issues at the airport.
These included inadequate signage linked to ongoing landside construction works, insufficient lifts, shuttle bus limitations and issues with airside ramp markings affected by construction activities.
They also called for improved support systems to enhance overall customer experience at the airport.
Responding to the concerns, FAAN assured stakeholders that all issues raised would be reviewed with the aim of improving service delivery and operational standards across airports nationwide.
The authority stated that it remains committed to addressing operational bottlenecks and enhancing efficiency within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
FAAN further noted that continuous engagement with stakeholders is part of its broader strategy to improve airport infrastructure and passenger facilitation services.
Industry stakeholders say such engagements are crucial as Nigerian airports continue to undergo infrastructural upgrades that temporarily affect passenger movement and operational efficiency.
The Murtala Muhammed International Airport remains one of the busiest gateways in West Africa, handling significant passenger and cargo traffic.
FAAN said it will continue to work closely with airline operators to ensure smoother airport operations during ongoing construction and modernization projects.
