Recognized for outstanding performance and contributions to Africa’s connectivity and economic growth

Ethiopian Airlines has once again been honored with the prestigious “Airline of the Year – Global Operations” award at the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) 56th Annual General Assembly & Summit in Cairo, Egypt.

This marks the 8th time the airline has received the accolade, further cementing its status as a leader in the African aviation industry.

The AFRAA award recognizes excellence in global service delivery, innovation, and competitiveness among airlines, individuals, and service providers.

Ethiopian Airlines stood out for its impressive financial performance for the year ending June 2023, with significant growth in profitability, extensive route network, and strategic advancements in cargo services across the continent.

The airline’s ability to cooperate with other carriers and continue expanding its global reach were key factors in its recognition.

In his acceptance speech, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mr. Mesfin Tasew expressed pride and gratitude. “Receiving this award is not just a recognition of our airline’s success, but an affirmation of the dedication and hard work of our team.

“We remain committed to enhancing Africa’s connectivity, fostering economic growth, and creating opportunities for all,” he said.

The airline’s efforts have played a vital role in promoting intra-Africa trade, tourism, and business, strengthening ties between African nations and the rest of the world.

Ethiopian Airlines’ expansion of its fleet with state-of-the-art aircraft, as well as its world-class customer service, has set a high bar for operational excellence in the African aviation sector.

As the continent’s premier carrier, Ethiopian Airlines continues to pave the way for growth and innovation, making global air travel more accessible and promoting economic integration across Africa.

This recognition also highlights Ethiopian Airlines’ continued success amidst a challenging global aviation landscape, showcasing resilience and forward-thinking leadership in the face of adversity.
