Iran is preparing plans for a broader military response if the United States resumes large-scale attacks, according to Iranian officials cited by Reuters.

The preparations come as diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran face difficulties. Iranian officials are reportedly considering a response that could target US-linked assets as well as countries supporting US military operations. No final decision on such action has been made.

Iranian authorities are also continuing diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation. Tehran has proposed a seven-day arrangement, but officials privately view the chances of reaching an agreement with Washington as limited.

The tensions follow months of conflict that began with US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28. An April 8 ceasefire ended a 40-day war, although hostilities have continued intermittently since then.

The situation has also affected international energy markets. Oil prices rose sharply on October 1 amid concerns about possible disruptions to energy supplies and shipping routes in the Middle East.

US President Donald Trump has continued to consider whether military action against Iran should resume, while Iranian commanders are reportedly reviewing possible targets and the timing of any retaliation.

The developments have increased uncertainty in global markets and raised concerns about another escalation in the Middle East.
