Senate President Godswill Akpabio has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “deliverer of projects,” praising his administration’s focus on infrastructure delivery across the country.
Akpabio made the remarks on Thursday during the commissioning of a newly constructed road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to Daily Post on Friday.
The Senate President also commended the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, describing him as a “miracle worker” while addressing guests at the event, which formed part of President Tinubu’s third-year-in-office project commissioning programme.
Akpabio represented President Tinubu at the commissioning of the Airport Road, also known as Bill Clinton Drive, which leads to the Tungan Madaki community in Abuja.
He expressed confidence in the quality of the newly completed road, saying it was built to last for decades without developing potholes due to the standard of construction and the contractors involved.
“I also come from a community so I know what it means to stay for 37 or 40 years without a road,” he said.
He added that a construction company involved in the project had previously worked on projects during his time as governor, noting that one of the roads they built has remained in good condition for over 15 years.
According to him, the durability of such infrastructure gives assurance that the new FCT road could last up to 25 years without potholes, given the terrain and quality of work.
Akpabio further praised the choice of contractors used for the project, saying their track record demonstrated capacity for delivering long-lasting infrastructure.
He also lauded President Tinubu’s leadership style, describing him as a leader who consistently delivers results despite criticism.
“I’m here to represent the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu. I think they should call him Mr deliverer, a man who delivers and doesn’t matter if they criticize him he continues to deliver,” Akpabio said.
The Senate President also commended Minister Nyesom Wike for his performance in the FCT, noting that his transition from Rivers State governance to the federal capital had exceeded expectations.
He said the scale of ongoing projects in the FCT under Wike’s leadership was unprecedented, including what he described as the first time in Nigeria’s history that a minister would schedule commissioning activities for 30 days in a single month.
Akpabio expressed appreciation to both Tinubu and Wike for what he called a “miracle” transformation of infrastructure delivery in the FCT.
He concluded by reiterating confidence in the durability and quality of ongoing projects under the current administration, urging continued support for government efforts in infrastructure development.
