Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Petralon Energy, Ahonsi Unuigbe, on his golden jubilee birthday celebration.

Unuigbe, who also serves as the Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), clocks 50 on Friday.

Governor Sanwo-Olu described Unuigbe as a patriotic Nigerian and visionary business leader who has demonstrated indigenous excellence through technical expertise, commercial discipline, and outstanding leadership.

In a congratulatory message issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the governor commended Unuigbe’s unwavering belief in Nigeria’s potential and his commitment to national development.

According to Sanwo-Olu, Unuigbe represents a new generation of Nigerian entrepreneurs who have remained optimistic about the country’s future despite economic challenges.

The governor noted that the Petralon Energy founder has consistently shown conviction that every Nigerian has a role to play in building a stronger nation.

He praised Unuigbe for nurturing Petralon Energy from its establishment in 2014 into a respected player in Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector.

Sanwo-Olu said the business leader’s achievements were driven by courage, patience, and optimism, qualities that may have been strengthened by his background in investment banking.

“His courage is commendable, but what to emulate is his optimism and patience, which perhaps may have been strengthened by his investment banking background,” the governor stated.

Sanwo-Olu also encouraged young Nigerians to emulate Unuigbe by identifying and investing in opportunities within the country.

He said Nigeria’s ongoing rebuilding process under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not only aimed at national development but also at raising a new generation of business leaders who will sustain the nation’s legacy.

The governor further acknowledged Unuigbe’s contributions to the Nigerian economy through enterprise and innovation.

He highlighted the businessman’s role as a Director of Meren Energy Inc., a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and Nasdaq Stockholm, describing it as a testament to the entrepreneurial ingenuity and leadership capacity of Nigerians on the global stage.

“On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Lagos State, I congratulate the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Petralon Energy, Mr. Ahonsi Unuigbe, on his golden jubilee birthday celebration,” Sanwo-Olu said.

“I am really proud of his achievements and contributions to the development of the Nigerian economy through his enterprise. I am equally excited that his role as a Director of TSX and Nasdaq Stockholm-listed Meren Energy Inc. has told a glowing story about the entrepreneurial ingenuity of Nigerians and our capacity to provide enduring leadership.”

The governor prayed for continued good health, wisdom, and greater accomplishments for Unuigbe as he marks his 50th birthday.

“As Mr. Unuigbe celebrates his fiftieth birthday, I pray that the Almighty God will continue to bless him with good health, wisdom, and knowledge,” he added.
