President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on his resounding victory in Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of his leadership.

In a statement, the President commended the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful and orderly conduct during the election, noting that they demonstrated confidence in the continuity of the Oyebanji administration.

He also praised security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process.

Tinubu urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to continue improving its conduct of elections as the country prepares for the forthcoming Osun governorship poll in August and the 2027 general elections.

With his re-election, Oyebanji becomes the first governor in Ekiti State history to secure back-to-back electoral victories, marking a significant milestone in the state’s political landscape.

The President noted that the governor’s first term recorded notable progress in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and rural development under the BAO agenda.

According to him, the renewed mandate reflects public confidence in continuity, stability and people-centred governance.

Tinubu urged Governor Oyebanji to remain magnanimous in victory and ensure inclusive leadership that accommodates all residents of Ekiti State.

He also called on other political contestants to accept the outcome of the election in good faith and support the governor in advancing the state’s development agenda.

The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with the Ekiti State Government to deepen development efforts and accelerate the Renewed Hope Agenda nationwide.

He prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he continues to serve the people of Ekiti State.
