Tencent launched a new tool on Sunday that integrates its popular messaging platform, WeChat, with the OpenClaw AI agent. The software, called ClawBot, will appear as a contact within WeChat, allowing users to send and receive commands directly through the messaging interface.

OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent capable of performing tasks such as file transfers, sending emails, and other automated actions on behalf of users. The integration comes as AI agents gain popularity in China, prompting technology companies to expand offerings while authorities caution about potential security risks.

ClawBot follows Tencent’s earlier launch of its AI agent suite this month, which includes QClaw for individual users, Lighthouse for developers, and WorkBuddy for enterprise clients. Competitor Alibaba recently released Wukong, a platform that coordinates multiple AI agents for tasks like document editing and meeting transcription within a single interface.

The rapid adoption of OpenClaw-based agents across desktop, cloud, mobile, and smart-home devices highlights the growing demand for AI-driven automation in China. Tencent’s WeChat integration positions the company at the forefront of the competitive AI agent landscape, leveraging its massive user base of over one billion monthly active users.
