The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has disclosed that he has no preferred candidates among aspirants contesting for elective positions in the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.

Governor Sani made the disclosure while breaking the Ramadan fast with members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, urging aspirants to focus on winning public support rather than relying on endorsements.

“My advice to every aspirant seeking any office is to get the support of party members. I have no anointed candidates in the coming primaries between April and May. I will abide by what the people decide,” he said.

He emphasized that while he remains committed to APC’s internal democracy, his sole preferred candidate at the national level is President Bola Tinubu, whom he pledged to support for re-election in 2027.

The governor cautioned that aspirants who do not succeed in the primaries should resist working against the party, noting that such actions would be counterproductive. Recalling past experiences, he said, “During the previous APC congress, some people wanted me to work against the party. I refused, and as God has it, I am the governor today.”

Governor Sani also highlighted the opposition’s likely strategy to exploit security challenges in the 2027 elections but stressed that APC remains the only viable party. He noted improvements in Kaduna State’s security since his administration took office in 2023, citing the reopening of 535 schools and 85 health facilities previously closed due to insecurity.

Additionally, he outlined ongoing infrastructure projects, including the 35-kilometer Bagoma-Gagumi road, which will connect 62 farming communities in Birnin Gwari Local Government, and the award of the contract for the Mando to Birnin Gwari road.
