The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation, pledging to resolve pending disputes and proactively address potential threats to the party.

The committee, chaired by former National Caretaker Chairman and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, held its inaugural meeting on Monday night at the chairman’s lodge in Abuja to outline strategies for fulfilling its mandate.

Attendees included key party leaders and state executives such as Governors Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Minister of Defence (State) Bello Matawalle. Other participants were Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello, Senator Adamu Aliero, Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Political Affairs Ibrahim Masari, and former APC National Legal Adviser Muiz Banire (SAN), who also serves as the committee’s secretary.

Governors Bassey Otu (Cross River), AbdulRahman AbduRazak (Kwara), and Umar Namadi (Jigawa), though committee members, were absent. No formal statement was issued after the meeting; however, confirmation came via a statement from Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to Governor Buni.

At the launch last December, Buni emphasized the committee’s commitment to fostering unity within the APC, saying it would adopt “strategic engagements and wide consultations to develop an all-encompassing and productive result” that gives both long-standing and new members, especially aggrieved parties, a sense of belonging and renewed hope.

He added that the committee would consider proactive measures and solutions to potential threats in its conflict-resolution approach and urged members to prioritize the party’s collective interest over personal sentiments in executing its mandate.

The committee’s formation underscores APC’s focus on strengthening internal cohesion ahead of upcoming political challenges and consolidating party structures nationwide.
