President Tinubu Welcomes Release of 24 Abducted Kebbi Schoolgirls

All 24 girls freed after terrorist abduction; government pledges intensified security in vulnerable areas.

President Bola Tinubu has welcomed the release of 24 schoolgirls abducted by terrorists in Maga, Kebbi State, last Monday.

The girls were taken shortly after a military detachment had left the school premises at dawn on November 17, sparking nationwide concern and prompting copycat kidnappings in Eruku, Kwara State, and Papiri, Niger State.

All 38 kidnapped victims in Eruku were freed on Sunday, while the Niger State chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria confirmed that 50 missing students from a Catholic school have been located at their parents’ homes.

President Tinubu applauded security agencies for their efforts in securing the freedom of all kidnapped students and urged continued action for the remaining captives.

“I am relieved that all the 24 girls have been accounted for. Now, we must urgently deploy more boots on the ground in vulnerable areas to prevent further incidents of kidnapping. My government will offer all the assistance needed to achieve this,” he said.

The president’s remarks underscore the administration’s commitment to protecting students and strengthening security measures across the country.
