Olamide Clears the Air on Being Shy, Says He’s Just Laid Back

The YBNL boss explains the difference between shyness and being reserved in a candid interview.

Nigerian rap icon Olamide Baddo has clarified that contrary to popular belief, he is not a shy person. The YBNL founder said this during a recent interview on Ada’s Room, noting that while many think he avoids the spotlight due to shyness, the real reason is that he simply prefers to stay laid back.

Olamide explained that shyness and being reserved are two different traits, and his personality falls into the latter.

“One thing I wish people understood about me is I am not shy, I am just laid back,” he said.

When asked by the host to explain the difference, Olamide gave a clear breakdown, saying:

“Shy is when you don’t have the confidence and the charisma to stand people or look them in the eye or have conversations with them. But being laid back is you just don’t want to be bothered. People think I am shy but I am not.”

The rapper, one of Nigeria’s most influential artists, has often been known for maintaining a low profile outside the studio and the stage, a trait now clearly defined by him as personal preference rather than a lack of confidence.
