Arsenal midfielder Eberechi Eze has singled out defender Jurrien Timber as the teammate who has gone beyond his expectations since joining the North London club last summer.
Eze, who transferred from Crystal Palace in August after Arsenal beat Tottenham Hotspur to his signature, made the comments during an appearance on GOAL’s Beast Mode On podcast.
The England international described Timber as a special player and a special person, noting that he had already heard good things about him before joining Arsenal:
“Everyone is sort of what you expect them to be. The expectation of all the players is high. I will say one player who has gone even beyond the high expectation I already had – because I’d heard good things about him – was Jurrien Timber. He’s a special player and a special guy.”
Timber, who joined Arsenal from Dutch club Ajax in 2023, struggled with injuries during his first season at the Emirates Stadium, featuring in only three games. Eze’s praise highlights Timber’s recovery and significant impact in his second season.
