OPay Extends N1.2 Billion Scholarship to KwaraPoly, Empowers 20 Students

Kwara State Polytechnic becomes first polytechnic to benefit from OPay’s 10-year scholarship plan aimed at empowering future leaders.

OPay, one of Nigeria’s top financial institutions, has expanded its N1.2 billion 10-year scholarship programme to include Kwara State Polytechnic. This move makes KwaraPoly the first polytechnic to benefit from the initiative, which aims to support students across the country.

With this new development, 20 students at the polytechnic will each receive N300,000 in scholarship funds. These funds will help ease the cost of their education and allow them to focus fully on their studies and personal growth.

OPay’s scholarship programme targets 400 students yearly from both universities and polytechnics. The goal is to reduce financial stress for students and help them build a stronger academic future.

Dauda Gotring, OPay’s MD/CEO, explained the purpose behind the programme:

“We created this scholarship to ensure that no talented student gives up on their dream. With this support, we’re not just helping today’s students—we’re building tomorrow’s leaders.”

Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, the rector of KwaraPoly, thanked OPay for choosing the institution.

“This scholarship will motivate our students. It will push them to achieve more in school and in life,” he said.

The inclusion of KwaraPoly highlights OPay’s focus on nationwide impact. The company has already supported students at several universities, and its reach continues to grow.

Founded in 2018, OPay offers fast, secure, and inclusive financial services. Its mission extends beyond fintech to areas like education and youth empowerment. Through this scholarship, OPay continues to invest in Nigeria’s future, one student at a time.
