The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has dismissed a formal complaint lodged by FC Barcelona over a refereeing decision in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg match against Atlético Madrid.

The match, played on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, saw Barcelona later file an official protest on April 13, 2026, challenging a specific decision made by the match officials.

In a statement released on Tuesday, UEFA confirmed that the complaint had been reviewed by its disciplinary bodies but was ultimately declared inadmissible.

“Following Champions League quarter-final first leg played on Wednesday 8 April 2026 between FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid, Barcelona filed a protest relating to a referee decision on 13 April 2026, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body declared the protest to be inadmissible,” the statement read.

UEFA did not disclose details of the incident that triggered the protest and confirmed that no further disciplinary proceedings would follow.

The ruling effectively brings the matter to a close at the administrative level, leaving both the match result and officiating decisions intact.

Both clubs are expected to continue preparations for the second leg of the tie under normal UEFA Champions League competition regulations.
