Sanwo-Olu Felicitates Muslims On Eid-El-Fitri

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended his warmest greetings to Nigerians and residents of the State, especially Muslim faithful, on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitri. The festival marks the culmination of a month-long period of fasting, prayers, and spiritual reflection.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged Muslims in Lagos State to uphold the values of spirituality, peaceful coexistence, and tolerance towards people of other religious beliefs. He emphasized that Lagos is renowned for its religious harmony and diversity.

The Governor reassured Lagos residents that the economic challenges currently being experienced would soon be alleviated, thanks to various intervention programs initiated by both the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed his felicitations, stating, “As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitri globally, I join millions of people around the world in wishing our Muslim brothers and sisters in Lagos State and Nigeria Eid Mubarak. We are grateful to God for granting us the opportunity to witness and celebrate the 2024 Eid-el-Fitri.”

He highlighted the significance of Ramadan to Muslims, noting its role as one of the five pillars of Islam. The Governor underscored the virtues learned during Ramadan, such as self-restraint, devotion to prayers, and submission to the will of Allah as outlined in the Quran.

Governor Sanwo-Olu encouraged Muslim faithful to maintain the spirit of peace and unity that characterizes Lagos State. He urged them to continue practicing the values of Ramadan, including assisting the less privileged, expressing gratitude to Allah, and demonstrating kindness and generosity towards one another.

Furthermore, the Governor called upon Muslims and adherents of all religious denominations in the country to continue praying for sustained peace and stability in Nigeria. He emphasized the need for unity and collective efforts towards the progress and development of Lagos State and the nation at large.

As the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations unfold, Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his commitment to fostering a harmonious and inclusive society where people of all faiths can thrive together in peace and prosperity.
