The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has commenced its screening exercise for aspirants seeking elective positions under its platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the party, the exercise begins on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in line with its national leadership’s approved timetable.
In a statement issued on Monday by the State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, the party confirmed that the screening will cover aspirants for the Kwara State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship positions.
The statement noted that screening for House of Assembly aspirants will take place on Tuesday at the party secretariat in Ilorin, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
It added that aspirants for the House of Representatives and Senate will be screened on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, also at the party secretariat in Ilorin.
Governorship aspirants are scheduled for screening on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the party’s national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The party directed all aspirants to appear before the screening panels with required documents, including completed nomination forms, valid identification, academic credentials, birth certificate or age declaration, passport photographs, party membership card, and proof of payment for forms and dues.
Other requirements include tax clearance certificates for the past three years, indigeneship documents, proof of financial capacity, and two copies of completed forms.
“The Party emphasises strict compliance with the above requirements, as only duly screened and qualified aspirants will proceed in the electoral process,” the statement read.
The Kwara PDP said the exercise reflects its commitment to transparent and democratic internal processes ahead of the 2027 elections, adding that it aims to produce credible and widely accepted candidates.
The development comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify internal preparations and consultations ahead of the next general elections.
