Dettol Cool has strengthened its hygiene awareness campaign across Nigeria with a renewed focus on germ protection in high-activity environments.
The company announced that it has expanded its #OwnTheSweat campaign with a more immersive second phase aimed at engaging Nigerians in fitness and movement spaces where freshness and hygiene are increasingly important.
According to the company, the latest edition, tagged #OwnTheSweat 2.0, builds on the success of the first campaign by introducing more interactive experiences in locations where physical activity is part of daily life.
The company noted that rising temperatures across Nigeria in recent months have made staying fresh and comfortable more challenging, especially in crowded environments and among individuals with active lifestyles.
“From navigating crowded spaces in sweltering conditions to repeatedly wiping away sweat, the discomfort has been widespread. For those with active lifestyles or constantly on the move, maintaining proper hygiene has become even more demanding,” the statement said.
At the centre of the initiative is the Dettol Cool antibacterial bar soap, which the company says offers triple-action benefits, including 99 per cent germ protection, a cooling effect that lowers skin temperature by up to five degrees, and long-lasting body odour protection during physical activities.
The campaign was implemented through a series of pop-up activations in fitness centres and activity hubs across the country. Participants took part in workout sessions, wellness activities and hygiene-focused experiences designed to encourage healthy habits.
The company explained that the initiative was not only about promoting freshness but also about demonstrating how hygiene can easily fit into everyday routines.
At the Lagos NYSC orientation camp, corps members participated in fitness challenges, dance competitions and interactive quiz sessions coordinated by fitness instructor Ekemini Ekerette. Outstanding participants were recognised as “Cool Champions” and rewarded with branded merchandise.
Speaking on the campaign, Marketing Director at Reckitt West Africa, Boma Harrison, said the campaign was designed to connect with Nigerians in their daily environments.
“With #OwnTheSweat2.0 by Dettol Cool, we wanted to go beyond awareness and create real, engaging experiences in spaces where people are most active, such as the gym. It’s about showing that staying cool, fresh, and maintaining good hygiene can be simple, even in demanding conditions. You can rely on Dettol Cool to get the job done,” she said.
The company added that the campaign reinforces its commitment to supporting active lifestyles while helping Nigerians maintain freshness, confidence and protection throughout their daily activities.
