Barcelona’s women’s team have been crowned Spanish league champions for a seventh consecutive season after defeating Espanyol 4–1 in the Catalan derby on Wednesday.
The victory secured the Liga F title with four games to spare, underlining another dominant domestic campaign for the club.
Teenage Norwegian forward Martine Fenger starred with a brace, while Caroline Graham Hansen and Carla Julia were also on the scoresheet as Barcelona sealed their latest triumph in style.
The title marks Barcelona’s 11th overall league crown and continues their sustained dominance of Spanish women’s football.
This season, the Catalan side have won 25 of their 26 league matches, with their only defeat coming against Real Sociedad in November. Real Madrid, who have a game in hand, remain 16 points behind in second place.
Barcelona are now in contention for a historic treble. They are set to face Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League, while also booking their place in the Copa de la Reina final.
In the cup competition, Barcelona will meet Atletico Madrid on May 16 as they aim to extend their trophy haul for the season.
The latest league triumph further cements Barcelona’s status as the dominant force in Spanish women’s football, with sustained success across both domestic and European competitions.
