The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of 50 suspects linked to terrorism, kidnapping, and armed robbery in a series of coordinated intelligence-led operations across the country.

The Force disclosed the development during a press briefing held on April 13, 2026, at the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) headquarters in Abuja.

According to the police, operatives recovered a significant cache of weapons, including one anti-aircraft launcher, 17 rifles of various models, 111 rounds of live ammunition, 17 cartridges, nine magazines, five walkie-talkie devices, three mobile phones, and one operational vehicle.

Officials described the operations as part of a sustained offensive against criminal syndicates threatening national security.

Among the major breakthroughs was the dismantling of a 33-member gang allegedly responsible for terrorism, cattle rustling, and the attack on the Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State.

The police also said they apprehended suspects linked to the killing of three officers attached to the Donga Divisional Headquarters in Taraba State.

In addition, the Force said it had intensified operations targeting “one-chance” robbery syndicates, vehicle burglars, and fake police checkpoint operators in the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding states.

One suspect, identified as Nasiru Ibrahim, aged 25, was arrested with an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and eight rounds of ammunition in the Igumale area of Benue State. Preliminary investigations reportedly linked him to a known arms trafficker identified as “Janari,” who remains at large.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to tackling violent crime and ensuring public safety across the country.

He said several suspects have already been charged to court, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing members of the criminal networks and recover additional illegal weapons.

The police reiterated their resolve to combine intelligence and operational tactics to stay ahead of criminal elements and maintain law and order nationwide.
