Manager of Brighton & Hove Albion, Fabian Hürzeler, has expressed admiration for Arsenal, stating that the North London side would fully deserve the Premier League title if they win it this season.
Speaking in comments shared by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Hürzeler said he would be among the first to congratulate the Gunners should they lift the trophy.
“I will be the first one to congratulate Arsenal when they win the Premier League, because if they win it, they will definitely deserve it,” he said.
Clarifying earlier remarks
Hürzeler explained that his recent comments about Arsenal had generated controversy because they were taken out of context.
He admitted that emotions played a role in how he initially reacted but insisted his words were never meant as criticism of the club.
“There were things that made me emotional. I am a person that sticks to my principles… and it created a lot of noise,” he said.
Respect for Arteta and Arsenal’s style
The Brighton boss also revealed that he personally contacted Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to clarify the situation.
According to him, he has great respect for Arteta and considers him one of the top managers in the league.
“I’ve texted Arteta. I have huge respect for him, one of the top managers in the Premier League. I love to see them play and admire a lot of elements of what they are doing.”
Hürzeler added that his earlier comments should not be interpreted as a personal attack on either the club or its manager.
His remarks highlight the growing recognition of Arsenal’s style of play and progress under Arteta as they continue their push for the Premier League title.
