Governor Babajide Sanwolu addresses Lagosians on how ease of Lockdown will be implemented

As Nigerians gear up commence economic activities Monday May 4th, in Lagos, Abuja, Ogun and other parts of the Country following the expiration of the COVID-19 Lockdown imposed on the three states by the Federal Government, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwolu has provided more guidelines for Lagosians on the rules guiding how easing of Lockdown measures will be implemented.

While speaking on Channels Television over the weekend, he explained that only Civil Servants above level 15 are to resume Monday, while those below level 15 are to resume work from Tuesday.

Food markets are to open only Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while Non Food markets are to open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

Meanwhile, Banks are to open for operations with strict observance of all rules to hygiene and social distancing, ensuring that their ATM machines are well sanitized and possibly provide means of transport for their staff.

Eateries and Restaurants will open from 9am to 7pm as a result of the ongoing Ramadan fast providing only Take-away packs and orders as no one is required to sit and eat.

According to the Governor, a compulsory wearing of face masks will be enforced from tomorrow as distribution to the public begins.

Transportation for commuters are to operate between the hours of 6am to 7pm, while those whose vehicles were impounded for violation of the Lockdown before April 14th are free to start collecting their seized vehicles.

Governor Sanwolu, also stated that further guidelines will be released to the press subsequently as the strict monitoring will also be implemented.

He urged the elderly to remain indoors due to their vulnerability to the disease as a result of age, and residents of the State to remain calm as Government is doing all within its powers to fight the pandemic.

Meanwhile, a free toll number has been provided for whistle blowers to call in to report defaulters.

The Governor gave the assurance that identities of such whistle blowers will not be revealed.
