Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has reiterated the importance of education as a critical driver of national development and personal success during a visit to Francis Cardinal Arinze Secondary School, Nkwelle Ezunaka, in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Obi visited the school on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, where he interacted with students and encouraged them to embrace education as a tool for shaping their future and contributing meaningfully to society.

In a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, Obi said he spoke to the students about how global progress is increasingly driven by ideas, knowledge, creativity, and skills, rather than by physical assets such as land or buildings.

According to him, individuals and nations that prioritise education and knowledge acquisition are better positioned to succeed in a rapidly changing and competitive world.

He stressed that education remains the most sustainable investment any society can make, adding that countries that understand and harness the power of knowledge are the ones that will thrive in the future.

As part of his support for education, the former Anambra State governor donated N10 million to the school to support its development and improve learning conditions.

He described the donation as a practical demonstration of his long-standing commitment to strengthening educational institutions across Nigeria.

“Education is not an expense but the best investment in the future of any society, and with quality education, a better and more prosperous Nigeria is achievable,” Obi said.

The visit and donation underscore Obi’s continued advocacy for education reform and youth development as foundations for sustainable national growth.
