Nigeria has formally confirmed its readiness to host the 2026 Airports Council International (ACI) Africa Regional Conference and Exhibition, following a high-level visit to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, by ACI Africa leadership.
Keyamo on Monday received the Secretary-General of ACI Africa, Alli Tounsi, who led a delegation to Abuja for preliminary consultations and site assessments ahead of the continental event scheduled for September 2026. The development was disclosed in a statement by the minister’s media aide, Tunde Moshood.
Airports Council International is the global trade association representing airports worldwide. It promotes collaboration in the aviation sector, supports safe and efficient operations, and advocates for the collective interests of airports. Nigeria’s selection as host further reinforces global confidence in the country’s aviation capabilities.
The visiting delegation also included key officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, among them Managing Director Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku; Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbebire; and Director of Commercial and Business Development, Mrs. Adebola Agunbiade.
Speaking during the visit, Tounsi highlighted Nigeria’s influence in Africa’s aviation ecosystem, calling it a natural fit to host the 2026 event.
“Nigeria must host this next Regional Conference. BAGASSO is already in Nigeria, and it is only right that ACI Africa is here too,” she said.
Responding, Minister Festus Keyamo assured the delegation of Nigeria’s commitment to delivering a successful and world-class conference.
“We accept wholeheartedly to host. Nigeria has the capacity, the infrastructure, and the commitment to deliver a world-class conference. You can count on us,” he stated.
