ABUJA, Nigeria – The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has pledged to work towards securing the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, while assuring Nigerians that the ruling party will fulfil its campaign commitments.
The pledge was made by Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, following his return to Nigeria on Sunday.
Yari was received by party supporters, associates and well-wishers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, where he spoke to journalists about the party’s preparations for the next presidential election.
Yari Promises to Honour APC Commitments
The former Zamfara State governor said the APC remains committed to the promises it made to Nigerians during the 2023 presidential campaign.
Yari assured voters that the party would stand by its commitments as it seeks another mandate for President Tinubu.
“I want to assure Nigerians that whatever promise we made during the campaign, we shall keep.”
He also expressed confidence that President Tinubu would remain in office after the 2027 election, urging APC members and supporters to continue working towards the party’s electoral success .
Yari’s comments come shortly after President Tinubu constituted the APC Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election.
The President is serving as Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima is Vice-Chairman I. APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda was named Vice-Chairman II, while Yari was appointed Director-General.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was appointed Secretary of the campaign council.
APC Begins Early Push for 2027
The formation of the campaign council marks a significant step in the ruling party’s preparations for the 2027 election.
Yari said the APC would continue to mobilise Nigerians around President Tinubu’s administration and work towards consolidating the party’s position across the country.
He also expressed optimism that the APC would continue to lead Nigeria beyond Tinubu’s second term.
The campaign leadership is expected to coordinate the party’s nationwide political activities, communicate its record to voters and develop strategies for securing support across Nigeria.
The appointment of Yari brings a politician with experience as a former Zamfara State governor and current senator into a central role in the APC’s presidential campaign structure.
Campaign Promises Under Spotlight
The APC’s pledge to fulfil its campaign promises comes as the party prepares to defend the record of the Tinubu administration before Nigerian voters.
The administration has implemented major economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to the foreign exchange system. These policies have attracted support from some investors but have also generated significant public concerns over living costs and economic hardship.
With the election campaign season now underway, the APC is expected to face questions from voters over the impact of government policies, particularly in areas such as the economy, security and employment.
