The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, says President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda has transformed Nigeria’s health sector, making cancer treatment accessible within the country.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah on Thursday, Idris said the administration had established six modern cancer treatment centres one in each geopolitical zone including Enugu, equipped with cutting-edge machines comparable to those abroad and staffed by trained specialists.
“Today, anyone travelling abroad for cancer treatment is doing so by choice, not because we lack the facilities or experts to provide care,” Idris stated. “We must give credit to President Tinubu for appointing the right people to revamp the health sector.”
The minister praised Governor Mbah’s developmental strides, describing Enugu as “the heart of the South-East” and noting that the visit was part of efforts to showcase the positive impact of federal policies nationwide.
He added that Tinubu’s leadership had also strengthened synergy among security agencies, resulting in improved national security, though he acknowledged that more work remained to be done.
Idris remarked that Tinubu’s performance so far was so impactful that “one will wonder if he is already in his second term.”
