SIFAX Group Congratulates Onigbinde on Election MARAN President

Afolabi says Onigbinde’s emergence reflects professionalism, dedication, and commitment to maritime journalism

SIFAX Group has congratulated Mr. Oluyinka Onigbinde on his election as the new President of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), describing his emergence as a reflection of his professionalism, dedication, and immense contributions to maritime journalism and the development of Nigeria’s maritime industry over the years.

The congratulatory message was conveyed in a formal letter signed by the Chairman of SIFAX Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, CON, on behalf of the Board, Management, and Staff of the conglomerate. The company commended Onigbinde for his consistency, credibility, and commitment to promoting responsible journalism within the maritime sector.

In the letter, Dr. Afolabi described Onigbinde’s election as well-deserved, noting that his years of service, leadership qualities, and extensive knowledge of the maritime industry had earned him the confidence and trust of members of the association.

“Your emergence as the President is proof of your professionalism, dedication, and consistent contributions to maritime journalism and the broader maritime industry over the years,” Afolabi stated.

He further expressed confidence that under Onigbinde’s leadership, MARAN would continue to advance the ideals of professionalism, ethical journalism, unity, and constructive engagement among stakeholders in the maritime sector. According to him, the association has continued to play an important role in promoting informed discourse and accountability within the nation’s maritime industry.

Afolabi also noted that the media remains a strategic partner in the growth and development of the maritime sector, stressing that balanced and objective reporting is critical to policy development, investment promotion, and industry growth. He added that the new leadership of MARAN is expected to strengthen collaboration between the media and operators within the maritime ecosystem.

The SIFAX Group Chairman, who also serves as Patron of MARAN, assured the newly elected president of his goodwill, support, and cooperation as he takes on the responsibility of leading the association at a critical time in the industry’s development. He also wished him wisdom, strength, and outstanding success in the discharge of his duties.

The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria is one of the foremost maritime media associations in the country and has continued to play a significant role in reporting developments across Nigeria’s shipping, ports, logistics, and blue economy sectors. Through its activities, the association has contributed to public awareness and stakeholder engagement within the maritime industry.
