The Renewed Hope Media Tour has continued its nationwide inspection of federal development projects, with a recent visit to Abia State focusing on key road, housing, and transport infrastructure under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The tour is designed to provide Nigerians with firsthand updates on ongoing projects under the Renewed Hope Agenda and to assess their impact on communities across the country.

In Abia State, the delegation inspected several major infrastructure projects, beginning with the Ohafia–Umuahia Federal Road, a critical transport corridor linking communities and commercial centres.

The team also visited the 67.6-kilometre Umuahia–Uzuakoli–Akara–Ohafia Road, a state-financed project aimed at improving connectivity, easing transportation, and boosting economic activity across rural and urban communities in the state.

Officials noted that the improved road network is expected to reduce travel time, enhance the movement of agricultural produce, and open up new economic opportunities for residents.

At the Omenuko Bridge along the Ohafia–Umuahia axis, the delegation observed ongoing rehabilitation efforts aimed at strengthening a key infrastructure link that supports both commuters and businesses in the region.

A major highlight of the visit was the inspection of the Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Umuahia, a federal housing project designed to deliver 1,200 housing units under the Renewed Hope Housing Programme.

The Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority, Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, said procurement processes have been completed and contractors are expected to commence work soon.

The Abia State Government reportedly provided land and compensated affected landowners, while the Federal Government, through the Federal Housing Authority, is responsible for construction.

The project is expected to expand access to affordable housing, generate employment opportunities, and stimulate economic activity within the state.

The delegation also visited the Onuinyan Bende Renewed Hope Housing Project, another housing development aimed at addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit while supporting job creation and local economic growth.

In addition, the team inspected the newly commissioned Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal in Umuahia, a modern transport hub designed to improve passenger experience, ease traffic congestion, and enhance commercial activities in the state capital.

Ongoing reconstruction works on sections of the Owerri–Abia–Imo Federal Road were also assessed, with stakeholders noting improvements in connectivity and increased economic activity along the corridor.

The delegation further reviewed progress on the Abia section of the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, a strategic highway linking the South-east and South-south regions. The project is expected to improve safety, reduce travel time, and strengthen interstate commerce.

Residents along the visited corridors expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, describing the developments as evidence of efforts to address long-standing infrastructure challenges in the region.

The Renewed Hope Media Tour continues to serve as a platform for showcasing federal projects nationwide, allowing the public to track progress on infrastructure delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The delegation was led by presidential aides, including Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and Chief Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, alongside media executives and journalists from across Nigeria.
