The Lagos State government has reassured public servants of its commitment to promoting physical fitness and mental wellness in the service. Mr. Bode Agoro, the State Head of Service (HOS), gave the assurance during the grand finale of the 17th Edition of the Head of Service Games held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos on Thursday.
Agoro emphasized that the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu recognizes the importance of optimal service delivery to citizens and believes that only healthy workers can ensure such delivery.
Congratulating the winners in various categories, Agoro highlighted that the primary goal of the HOS Games is to foster sportsmanship and camaraderie among public servants in the state.
He noted that talents discovered in previous editions of the games have represented the state in both local and international competitions, and he expects more talents to be discovered adding to the state’s strength.
Agoro pointed out the significant growth of the games in terms of talent discoveries and announced that more innovations would be introduced in the coming years. He mentioned the increasing interest from various government agencies, local governments, and council development areas in participating in the competition.
Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyebola, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, expressed satisfaction with the widespread participation of workers from different ministries, parastatals, and council areas. She urged workers to prioritize regular medical checkups to ensure their well-being.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by the State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, and other executive cabinet members, presented trophies and medals to the winners.
The Female Tug of War Games was won by the New Town Development Agency Team, while the Fire Service and Rescue Agency secured victory in the Male’s Tug of War Game.
The Public Service Office Team emerged triumphant in the Female soccer category. The event showcased the government’s commitment to the well-being and camaraderie of its public servants.
