Presidency Denies Speculation of Cabinet Reshuffle by President Tinubu

In response to recent speculation regarding a possible cabinet reshuffle by President Bola Tinubu, the Presidency has dismissed such reports as mere speculation. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Ajuri Ngelale, made this clarification during an interview with the National Television Authority on Sunday.

Ngelale emphasized that preempting the President’s actions would be premature, stating that President Tinubu is fully aware of all factors related to the activities within his administration. He noted that the President is equipped with comprehensive information, including monitoring activities of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) through the Special Adviser on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman.

Regarding the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle, Ngelale indicated that any such decision would have to await the conclusion of ongoing investigations into alleged fraud within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, as well as its Social Investment Programmes. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to holding individuals accountable for any wrongdoing uncovered during the investigations.

The speculation of a cabinet reshuffle arose following reports of financial impropriety within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the suspension of activities by the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA). However, Ngelale clarified that until the investigations provide conclusive findings, any decisions regarding reshuffling would remain speculative.

Ngelale underscored the President’s intention to act based on the findings of the investigations, ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to address any issues uncovered. He emphasized that President Tinubu would not make any decisions regarding a reshuffle until a clear understanding of the investigation’s outcomes is attained.

In conclusion, Ngelale reiterated the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, affirming that actions taken by the President would be guided by the findings of the ongoing investigations.
