Nigeria’s under 18 and 20 handball men teams began the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 Phase campaign in Accra, Ghana on a winning note as they earned comfortable victories over Benin Republic and Liberia respectively on Tuesday.
The under 18 team led by Coach Emeka Nnamani set the pace as they were ruthless from the set go by winning the first half 22-6 and then wrapping their game up with an massive 45-19 victory over Benin Republic in the Youth category.
The outstanding player of the match went Nigeria’s under 18 player Mohammed Mustapha.
The under 20 led by veteran coach Fidelis Obi on their part, compounded the woes of Liberia as the earned a convincing 33-7 in the first half before winning the match with an annihilating 61-19 victory
Nigeria under 18 team will face host Ghana on Wednesday while the under 20 team would have to wait till Thursday to play Benin Republic.
