A new joint venture has been established in Nigeria to provide subsea services for the oil and gas industry.
Thailand-based Mermaid Maritime has partnered with Nigerian oilfield services company Marine Platforms Limited to create Mermaid Subsea Services Limited. Mermaid Maritime will hold 49%, while Marine Platforms will hold 51%.
The new company is expected to work with TotalEnergies Nigeria and other oil and gas operators, while meeting Nigeria’s local-content and regulatory requirements.
Marine Platforms already provides services including subsea engineering, remotely operated vehicle (ROV) support, well services and vessel chartering.
The companies say the partnership will strengthen their ability to carry out subsea projects in Nigeria. No specific contract has been announced yet.
