The Nigerian naira has weakened against the United States dollar in the latest foreign exchange trading.
As of September 29, 2026, the dollar was being exchanged for about ₦1,382 in the parallel market, compared with ₦1,378 previously.
In the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), the naira also weakened slightly to ₦1,331.50 per dollar, from ₦1,330.
The difference between the official and parallel-market rates has now increased to about ₦50.50 per dollar.
Trading activity in the official market also dropped sharply, with reported NFEM interbank turnover falling by 77.7% to $24.73 million.
The movement in the exchange rate means Nigerians and businesses that depend heavily on imported goods may continue to watch the dollar-naira rate closely.
