The Lekki Port in Lagos has introduced tighter controls on truck movement in an effort to reduce traffic congestion around the port corridor.

Port authorities and other stakeholders are strengthening the use of an electronic call-up system and designated truck parks to better manage the movement of trucks entering and leaving the port.

The move is expected to make the transportation of goods more organised and reduce the long queues of trucks that can slow down business activities around the port.

Better traffic management is also important for importers, exporters and logistics companies because delays at the port can increase the cost of transporting goods and affect delivery times.

The authorities are hoping that the new measures will improve the efficiency of the port and make it easier for businesses to move goods through Lagos.
