Bayern Munich produced a dramatic late comeback to defeat Real Madrid 4–3 on Wednesday, sealing a 6–4 aggregate victory and booking a place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Late goals from Luis Díaz and Michael Olise ensured the German giants advanced to the last four, where they will face reigning champions Paris Saint‑Germain, coached by Luis Enrique.

The contest was level at half-time after an electrifying first half in which Real Madrid went ahead three times on the night.

Madrid struck just 34 seconds into the match when Arda Güler capitalised on a misplaced pass from Manuel Neuer, floating a first-time shot into the empty net.

Bayern responded quickly when Aleksandar Pavlović headed home a corner from Joshua Kimmich after Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin misjudged the flight of the ball.

The visitors soon regained the lead through Güler, whose curling free-kick beat Neuer despite the goalkeeper getting a hand to the ball.

Bayern again hit back before the break when Harry Kane slotted a precise finish into the bottom corner in the 38th minute, restoring their aggregate advantage.

However, Kylian Mbappé quickly responded for Madrid, running onto a pass from Vinícius Júnior and finishing calmly to make it 3–2 on the night and level the tie at 4–4 on aggregate heading into half-time.

With Madrid repeatedly exploiting Bayern’s high defensive line, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany introduced the pace of Alphonso Davies after the interval.

Both sides created chances in the second half, with Olise forcing a fingertip save from Lunin with about 20 minutes remaining.

The decisive moment arrived late in the match when Eduardo Camavinga was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession, leaving Madrid a man down.

Bayern quickly capitalised on the numerical advantage. Díaz fired from outside the box, his effort taking a crucial deflection off Éder Militão before flashing past Lunin to put the German side ahead in the tie.

As Madrid pushed desperately for an equaliser, Bayern struck on the counterattack deep into stoppage time. Olise curled a superb shot into the corner to seal the victory and Bayern’s place in the semi-finals.

Tempers flared after the final whistle, with Güler receiving a straight red card for confronting the referee.

The result marks Bayern’s first knockout victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League since 2012 and sets up a highly anticipated semi-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
