American tennis star Coco Gauff has reached the quarter-finals of the 2026 US Open after defeating fellow American teenager Iva Jovic 6–1, 6–4 in the fourth round at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

The fourth-seeded Gauff made a strong start after being broken in the opening game. She immediately responded by winning six consecutive games to take control of the first set, which she wrapped up in just over 30 minutes.

Jovic, the 14th seed, showed more resistance in the second set and briefly threatened to make the contest closer. However, Gauff maintained her composure and eventually secured the set 6–4 to complete the victory in 80 minutes.

The victory takes Gauff back to the US Open quarter-finals for the first time since she won the tournament in 2023. It is also her 12th Grand Slam quarter-final appearance before the age of 23, placing her alongside some of the sport’s elite young achievers.

Gauff will now face Mirra Andreeva in the quarter-finals. The Russian fifth seed also reached the last eight after defeating Anastasia Potapova in three sets. The meeting will bring together the reigning French Open champion Andreeva and former French Open champion Gauff.

Gauff is also carrying impressive momentum into the quarter-finals, having extended her winning run and remaining in contention for a second US Open title and third Grand Slam crown.
