Barcelona secured their 29th Spanish league title after defeating rivals Real Madrid 2-0 in a decisive Clasico clash on Sunday.
First-half goals from Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres handed Hansi Flick’s side the victory that sealed consecutive La Liga titles and condemned Madrid to a trophyless campaign.
The result moved Barcelona 14 points clear of second-placed Real Madrid with only three matches remaining, making their lead mathematically unassailable.
It marked only the second time in La Liga history that the title race was decided directly through the outcome of a Clasico fixture.
Madrid entered the match amid internal turmoil after midfielder Fede Valverde was ruled out with a head injury reportedly sustained during a training-ground altercation with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick also faced personal tragedy before the game following the death of his father, but still took charge on the touchline for the crucial encounter.
With teenage sensation Lamine Yamal sidelined through injury, Flick handed Rashford a starting role on the right wing.
Barcelona wasted little time asserting dominance at a packed Camp Nou, racing into a two-goal lead within the opening 18 minutes.
Rashford opened the scoring with a stunning free-kick from 20 yards, curling the ball into the top-left corner beyond goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Torres doubled the advantage moments later after a clever backheel assist from Dani Olmo allowed the forward to burst into the area and finish confidently past Courtois.
Real Madrid threatened occasionally, with Gonzalo Garcia narrowly missing after breaking through Barcelona’s defensive line.
Rashford could have added a third before halftime but fired wide despite having teammates in support.
Madrid improved slightly after the break, with Jude Bellingham having a goal ruled out for offside, while goalkeeper Joan Garcia denied Vinicius Junior during one of Madrid’s best chances.
Barcelona supporters turned the closing stages into a celebration, mocking Vinicius with inflatable beach balls while enjoying the atmosphere during the first Clasico at the reopened Camp Nou before more than 62,000 fans.
Courtois prevented further damage by saving efforts from substitutes Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.
Under Flick, Barcelona remain on course to equal the record of 100 points in a La Liga season and could still finish the campaign with a perfect home record if they defeat Real Betis in their final home fixture.
For Real Madrid, the defeat capped a disappointing season without major honours and intensified speculation over a major summer rebuild.
Former manager Jose Mourinho has already been linked with a possible return as club president Florentino Perez searches for answers to Barcelona’s growing domestic dominance.
